Day trip from Lisbon to Évora with a local guide: the Roman Temple, the cathedral and the UNESCO-listed historic centre of the Alentejo’s capital.
The origin story
Évora
Évora has been a city for more than two thousand years. The Romans built its temple in the 1st century, the Moors held it for four centuries, and Christian Portugal made it a royal city, with a cathedral begun in the late 12th century. Kings of the Avis dynasty lived here, and the whole historic centre, from the temple to the Chapel of Bones, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
